What do you do when farmers do not want the improved seed?

An improved seed variety can do better in trials and still be taken up by only a small share of farmers. When that happens, what question has the programme failed to ask?

Ask what farmers do with the harvest. If the improved variety does not store well, or the market pays less for it, a better yield does not help them, and refusing it is a sensible decision.

The market price is the part that is easy to miss. That is where I would look first.
