Test a translation model on your own languages before you rely on it

priya_rScout··2 views
Translation models are much stronger in some languages than in others. A model can be very good in a widely written language and poor in one with little text online. This is a planning point, not a complaint. If your programme depends on a model, test it on the languages your people speak, with a speaker checking the output, before you build the work around it.

And some languages are barely covered at all. Measuring it for your own case is better than assuming either way.

The same applies to dialects. A model can handle the formal written language and still get the spoken one wrong.
