Facilitating a difficult meeting: three situations people get stuck in

maria_santosContributor··1 view
Three situations come up again and again when you run meetings: one person dominates every session, nobody speaks at all, or two people keep having the same argument. For the first, go round the room so each person speaks once before anybody speaks twice. For the second, give people two minutes to write before you ask for answers. For the third, name the disagreement out loud and decide when it will be settled, so it stops taking over every other item.

The round works the same way online if you call people by name in a set order. Writing first works in the chat.

The person who dominates is the hardest one. Going round the room is simple enough to try this week.
