Funders want stories. The families an organisation works with did not sign up to be anybody's story. How do you report honestly without using people?

Many groups get plenty of sign-ups after an event and find few people still there a few months later. What keeps volunteers?

Some funds that support first films ask for a trailer or a sample scene, not a finished film, and some offer mentoring alongside the money. Read each fund's own page for who can apply, what it pays for, and when it closes. Those differ...

A first-year report on a mini-grid is more useful with a few plain numbers: how many connections, the uptime and how it was measured, and what households spend compared with before. It is also worth recording what the power is used for. A...

A seed bank shared by several villages needs a building and a set of rules: who may borrow, what is returned, and who decides. The building is the simpler part. Should the rules come from the organisation that paid for it, or from a...

The label on a programme can change who applies to it, apart from who it is for. A programme named for one group may put off some of the people it is meant for, and in other places the same label is what makes it feel safe to apply. If...
